Alan McGuire Role: Broadcaster, Author, Producer and Environmentalist

'Sound says it all for me'

Alan is a veteran broadcaster who has been involved in radio since the early 1980s. He was a presenter with South East Radio since its first date of broadcast 20th October 1989. For many years he was co-presenter with Kerry Graye of the Station’s flagship current affairs programme ‘Regional Express’. That successful partnership ended when Kerry moved on to Independent Network News and The Alan McGuire Show came into being, a three hour magazine/current affairs programme which made him a household name throughout Co. Wexford and surrounding counties. His support for the Irish Music Industry was recognised with a Fairplay for Airplay Award – (not bad for a talk programme!).

Alan has worked in close partnership with Don and Chris since 1991. This led to the successful BCI funded Wild Ireland and Strange Ireland series – broadcast on a variety of Independent and Community Stations. Alan’s popular broadcasting style has led to many different avenues including hosting important environmental and social seminars and conferences and he is in regular demand for the opening of high profile events. Alan was also involved in the publications of the Wildlife Quiz and Amazing Facts book (as Editor) and The Big Movie Quiz Book (as Co-Author and Editor).
